How To Open an OptionsXpress Account To Trade Stocks Online With Chaikin Power Tools

It's easy to open an online brokerage account or transfer your existing account to our online brokerage partner, optionsXpress. Connecting your account to Chaikin Power Tools is easy, free, and will enable you to make faster, seamless stock trades from within the app.

If you currently trade with an online brokerage firm other than optionsXpress, you can still use Chaikin Power Tools to simplify your buy-sell decisions; however you will have to exit the app and log in to your online brokerage firm to make a trade. To summarize, it’s much easier and faster to trade from optionsXpress.

With optionsXpress, the trade is seamless. Simply select an action, quantity, and stock symbol from the in-app trade screen and press “Place Order”. This is a comparatively smoother and easier process that will ultimately save you time and effort.

Signing Up for an optionsXpress Account

On the Web: Click here to be taken to our special offer page from optionsXpress. From here, click “Start Trading Today” to begin the sign up process, which takes less than 10 minutes to complete. Everything can be set up here – you can even sign your documents electronically if you prefer.

If you have trouble at any time during the process, you can chat online with a live optionsXpress representative by clicking the “Live Help” link, or call 888-280-8020 to speak to a representative over the phone.

Funding Your Account

New Account: Once your account is created, you will be asked to fund the account to enable trading. This can be done by wiring money to optionsXpress, sending a check, or connecting your bank account to your optionsXpress account. The web site will explain these options in further detail as you complete the process.

Account Transfer: To transfer an account from your current brokerage firm to optionsXpress, complete the account creation process and then log in to your new optionsXpress account. Hover your mouse over the “Account” button and select the “Transfer Funds” link from the drop-down menu. On the right of the screen, there will be a link for an “Account Transfer Application”. Complete this form to transfer your account.

Much of this process can be done online, however be aware that you may be legally required to print out and mail some documents. An optionsXpress representative can help you with this process.

If your current firm charges you a transfer fee, optionsXpress will reimburse you for this charge up to $100. To take advantage of this offer, you will need to fax a copy of your final statement with the transfer fee to optionsXpress at 312-629-5256.

Enable Account For In-App Trading

Before you can login to your optionsXpress account through Chaikin Power Tools, you must enable this feature in your optionsXpress profile. To do this, simply log in at www.optionsxpress.com, hover your mouse pointer over the “Account” button, and select “Profile” from the drop-down menu. Select “Trading and Web Site Preferences” and scroll down until you see the “Site Access Via Software / XML API” option. Check the “Enabled” box and then scroll down to click the “Save Changes” button. You will now be able to log in and trade from within Chaikin Power Tools.
